Challenge

On a typical sheep gathering session, 10-12 farmers face difficulties finding all their animals. The implication is that both animal and farmer may have to stay out for longer than necessary. When there is heavy snow, this compounds the problems and the cold induces distress upon both farmer and animal.

Carrefour Taiwan’s goal is to be completely digital by end of 2018. Out-dated manual methods for analysis and assumptions limited Carrefour’s ability to change the customer experience and were void of real-time decision-making capabilities. Rather than relying solely on sales data, assumptions, and disparate systems, Carrefour Taiwan’s CEO led an initiative to find a connected IoT solution that could give the team the ability to make real-time changes and more informed decisions. Prior to implementing, Carrefour struggled to address their conversion rates and did not have the proper insights into the customer decision-making process nor how to make an immediate impact without losing customer confidence.

Ofo Bike sharing company wanted to improve its user experience by providing seamless network connectivity to its users where they can locate bikes and pedal away quickly exactly when and where they need one, but challenge is to avoid frustration if user finds difficulties in finding bikes, unlocking the bikes and making payments

The big problem that Utilities face includes:

(i) How to make meters “smart” and ingest the data from homes to the companies and;

(ii) how to derive intelligent actions from huge amounts of meter data, in an efficient and cost-effective way.

Solving these problems would help Utilities track & monitor water consumption data, identify leakage, theft & various anomalies. This demands the need of a scalable system with remote asset management & proactive maintenance capabilities. This would also help end-consumers understand their water usage for better decision-making to conserve water.

Common themes under customers with Materials Handling Equipment are; how to make sure that they stay within contracted hours but not under use the equipment. While on-site in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, the DAQRI team of Business Development and Solutions Architecture personnel worked closely with KSP Steel’s production leadership to understand the steel production process, operational challenges, and worker pain points.

Intermatic needed a solution to help their customers drastically reduce costs associated with making sure all billboard lights were on and working properly. The traditional method was costly, time consuming and inefficient as may billboards are located in isolated regions.

Solution

Telia Norway and start-up Nortrace equipped 1,000 sheep with collars with tracking modules in order for the solution to be effective. Narrowband IoT technology was used to remotely track and monitor the animals.

Today with new digital technologies, retailers can now develop and deploy in-store analytics to gather a deeper understanding of customer behaviors and optimize in real-time to improve store efficiencies and customer experiences. Carrefour Taiwan partnered in a cooperative effort with Sirqul on a smart retail implementation to transform into a more immersive, connected experience for both customers and staff. New experiences were enabled and centered around discovering the customer journey and leveraging devices with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to alter in-store experiences in real-time. Measuring behavior in the physical world and acting on this data enables retailers to make an impact on the customer journey and experience a sales lift. This new digital technology called Edysen, enables retailers to track shopper behavior (without an app) on an aggregate and anonymous level in order to get a better understanding on how to attract, engage, and retain customers. Sirqul’s patented Edysen devices blend into the environment and detect WiFi and BTLE pings from phones. The data captured is specific to the device and is non-personally identifiable. The technology then extracts data and in real-time to kick-off an event or series of events including triggers, alerts, automation, promotions, alter digital signage, and more.

This has enhanced and optimized life-cycle management for locks, while the sensors on the locks facilitate rapid maintenance, and boost marketing and value-added services.

Saviant developed an IoT-based Smart Metering & Data Analytics system using Azure platform for Utilities. The solution helped connect 100,000 smart water meters and manage 250 Million+ data records per year, scalable to 100-times that volume. The system operates with best-in-the-industry data collection frequency of every five-minute visibility of water consumption, scalable to every 1-minute as well. Utilities can now track & identify leaks, unauthorized consumption, missed meter read, their patterns and usage events in real-time through Web portal. Built on Bright Wolf’s Strandz platform and leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud storage, Haemonetics won IoT Evolution App of the Year in 2015. Through their partnership with Bright Wolf, Haemonetics released HaemoCloud, connecting the blood supply chain from donation to transfusion. The new system works directly with their existing HaemoCommunicator suite – connecting all Haemonetics sensors and devices in order to format and transfer device information, as well as collect and manage operational data, and send it to the AWS cloud. HaemoCloud also integrates with hospital and other institutional information systems to store and share information with relevant hospital and IT staff, creating a seamless data experience for customers. Data collected in HaemoCloud will allow Haemonetics to build preventative maintenance algorithms and provide customers industry-leading device performance. The system’s flexible architecture also enables Haemonetics to take advantage of new market opportunities and grow with new offerings from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the future.

The first level of Hyster Tracker technology includes all of the essential tracking capabilities that help to effectively manage fleets of trucks and operators. This data can help to identify equipment that may be over-utilised, which may otherwise lead to increased maintenance and service costs. It can also identify under-used equipment. Operator access control works with RFID cards to ensure that specific equipment is used only by authorised or appropriately trained operators. It also helps to manage incidents and improve driver accountability by identifying who was operating a truck in the event of a recorded incident. To drive down fuel or power costs, the idle shutdown function can also be set. Employing DAQRI SMART HELMET™ and visual markers at process-observation points, KSP Steel engineers could access two new capabilities. 1. Just-in-place AR data visualization: Workers could safely access necessary information at the point of need, without wasted travel time or an interruption of situational awareness. 2. Portable Process Data: Workers can select an AR data visualization for a given observation point and pin it to their AR display, independent of the unique marker. Data Collected
Leveraging advanced location-aware Edysen devices and artificial intelligence, Sirqul provided daily insights and KPIs into store performance that helped to drive change and make an impact on their stores. The solution captured visits, repeat visitors, movement, heatmaps, customer paths, and dwell time by area. Analyzing traffic behaviors, Sirqul provided insights into anomalies that needed investigation and action.
