The Challenge

The implementation of ERP software in a Discrete Manufacturing organization needs to be strategic, irrespective of its size and capacity. The client had already implemented an ERP system which fulfilled their requirements but was not efficient enough. Efficiency here meant Synchronized Planning, Updating and Multisite Planning. Planning at client’s place was done outside the ERP system. Lack of proper synchronization to the ERP system paved way to huge delays in the changes getting updated in the system. These delays caused disruption in achieving delivery schedules. Multisite Planning is a solution to an organization which has multiple production units (may or may not be geographically separated) and thus needs planning across these units to synchronize production activities within them. The client also has multiple factories and hence Production Planning control is very essential in their case. Since Multisite planning was not possible with Baan ERP system, this was another bottleneck for the client.

Since most of the problems discussed above were centered on Planning Production Control, the Advanced Planning solution technology which was thus available with Infor SCS Planner, helped solve the Multisite planning problem that the client was hard faced with. Experts from nicheBees team bring in deeper and proven implementation knowledge of Advanced Planning solutions. This team adopted the techniques of advanced planning and systems to help the client reap in the benefits of Infor SCS planner software. nicheBees implemented a work model by having both an Onsite team and an Offsite team. Typically Onsite team is located at the customers’ site and the Offsite team is located at nicheBees’s premises. In the case of the client, the onsite team’s work mainly comprised of Key Users Training, Process Study and Mapping, Testing of Business Scenarios and Solution Development. On the other hand, the Offsite team worked on customizations and functional testing and also providing technical support to the onsite team. This resulted in a balanced yet result driven engagement model which was very cost effective and innovative to the customer.
