IoT GUIDE

Overview

Is IoT just hype? Not quite. Within all industries IoT is having a tremendous impact – with monetization and business values, as I discussed in a previous post. IoT solutions involve many technologies and it is clear no one company or organization will dominate the IoT space. Like the Internet, it will be distributed and entail coordination between many technologies – from the edge all the way up to robust solutions. The following reference architecture illustrates a number of the key levels in the IoT stack.

See the diagram for IoT World Forum Reference Model here.

The most important layer for IoT (Consumer or Industrial) is at the higher business and monetization focused levels: data analytics, mobile applications, and end-to-end collaboration of people within digitized business processes.

This post summarizes various IoT resources that I have developed, authored and presented over the past three years. IoT as well as IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) is huge. The IoT/IIoT resource categories are organized as follows: IoT for Digital Transformation; IoT for Optimized Customer Experience; and Industrial Internet of Things.
