Overview
The purpose of computer vision is to program a computer to "understand" a scene or features in an image. it seeks to automate tasks that the human visual system can do. Computer vision systems are used increasingly to solve problems of industrial inspection, allowing for complete automation of the inspection process and to increase its accuracy and efficiency.One of the most common applications of computer vision is the inspection of the products such as microprocessors, cars, food, and pharmaceuticals. It also can be applied in detection, segmentation, localization, and recognition of certain objects in images (e.g., human faces).

Railroad Asset Identification using Computer Vision
This customer maintains a railroad network consisting of thousands of miles of track across North America. They are regulated by a primary federal agency for the safe operation and maintenance of their network. One of the many requirements is the consistent posting of signage at various locations of their tracks.The customer began capturing video of their rail network a number of years ago and updates it on a continual basis. The challenge is the ability to watch the video and determine if specific signage is in place and if it is in serviceable condition.

A 49 year old factory worker with long-standing low back pain was referred to a ViMove clinic for assessment and treatment.
