Remote Gas Pipeline Tunnel Temperature Monitoring System
One of Singapore's leading engineering and system integration providers needed exactly the right solution for a challenging gas pipeline application. With experience in assembling systems for many different vertical markets such as oil and gas networks, factory automation, and building automation, this system integrator realized that monitoring the temperature of a gas pipeline tunnel is crucial for safe operations. In the confined space of a tunnel, temperature rises easily, and the overheating could cause pipeline fractures that could lead to gas leaks or even explosions. Meanwhile, the long and narrow dimensions inherent to a tunnel meant that more home run cables must be installed to link all the temperature gauge data acquisition I/O devices back to the pipeline's SCADA system, increasing cabling costs. With these stakes and in these conditions, the simple act of regularly taking the temperature transforms into a formidable yet absolutely necessary requirement. System Requirements • Real-time tunnel temperature monitoring to provide early excessive heat warnings • Data acquisition and system management with SCADA system • Ethernet data acquisition system, but with efficient, cost-effective wiring

Crossing the Atlantic to Argentina
Between 2005 and 2010, Aluar went through a substantial growth phase where most of the production facilities were upgraded. As a result of this expansion, the number of PLCs increased from 100 to 300. When it came to managing the control program software, however, flaws and cracks began to show in the established workflow and version control procedures that had prior to the growth phase, been based on manual backups and documentation. A rapid growth in the number of automation and maintenance staff (>100 users) also coincided with increasing accounts of infrequent and incomplete documentation of software versions, which then required an increasing effort where bug tracing and detection were concerned. This increased the risk of incidents that could not only affect operation, but that could also result in stoppages at the mid-term. It also increased the risk of safety risks remaining undetected.

MAPTRACK - CORPORATE VEHICLE AND ASSET MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
The client needed a new solution based on a fleet management system to track its vehicles’ locations around Europe and provide real-time analytics that allowed a more efficient exploitation of its valuable fleet and personnel resources and calculation of the amount of fees to be paid by different types of vehicles based on route distances. The main challenge was to boost the system’s performance, enable multi-tenant architecture, support the program in hosted/on-premise mode and provide availability in multiple languages.
